Lovely review of Domaine Lou Cayla and our 2012 from southfrance.com

Domaine Lou Cayla, IGP Aude, 2012
Red wine : Syrah, Carignan
South France Wine Selection

I enjoyed meeting Juliet Bruce Jones at the monthly wine tasting at Bouchons et Tradition in Argeliers. She’s a fully qualified British Master of Wine, with many years of buying and selling wines, who with her husband Simon Ingman, has started to make her own. They have a small vineyard, of 1.75 HA near Mailhac, a lovely Minervois village, that dates back to 900 BC, a veritable treasure trove for archaelogists. Its relatively early days, as their first vintage was in 2011, but they are taking sure steps creating a wine that stands on its own.The 2012 Domaine Lou Cayla (14% vol) that I drank, is an immediate pleaser, with a soft but spicy nose, of black cherries, herbs and pepper. The glowing ruby colour, imbues the richness and full bodiedness, that is unmistakeable of the Minervois terroir. It is satisfying to enjoy and in fact to know that the syrah and carignan were vinified seperately, giving the wine a fresh taste, smooth with easy tannins. The additional knowledge that this is an organic wine – without the use of artificial pesticides or sprays – is an additional plusWith only 843 bottles = all individually numbered, they won’t stay around for long!
